Pecan Pie

Pecan Pie

Good Times....

This weekend we spent in Memphis, Tennessee.  What an awesome city!  We went to a yearly St Patricks day party that we plan on going a year out. It falls on Spring Break so we decided to make a mini family vacation of it.  The 7 hour drive, really isn't all that bad.  With the 70's on 7 on satellite radio, it makes the ride way more bearable!

Out adventure started out of Fort Worth, heading 30 East we had to detour to visit a dear friend for lunch.  The hospitality of the Old South Restaurant in Arkansas is amazing, as well as the food.  Yes, the 3 hour detour was well worth the trip!

We arrived in Memphis around 4:30pm, checked in our room and got settled a bit before heading out to another friends Cajun Catfish Company Restaurant in Collierveille, TN.  The food was wonderful and the company that met us there was so inviting.

The next day, we adventured down to the riverfront of Memphis, Beall Strett and a great restaurant, The Kooky Canuck.  My son found this one as it was featured on Diners, Dives and Drive In's...or whatever order that should be.  The food was absolutly DELISH!  Walked it off around downtown and took a lovely horse drawn carriage ride.  The family was pooped from all the exercise, but God knows we need it!

Next day the Memphis Zoo!!  Again, an awesome experience....legs and butt sure are feeling it!

Saturday night the party!  Great bunch of people.  It was nice to be out of town with solid friends, and guess what?  No drama......hmmmm.  This bunch of friends are solid, fun, and just out for a good time.  It seems that some people just strive on drama, but that will be a whole other blog.

Although getting away is always a good time, 4 people in a motel room can wear on the nerves a bit, but you just have to make the best of it.  Now home and all alone for the first time in 5 days.  Potato soup in the crockpot, catching up on chores, then nap time.  Naps ROCK!

If you know me, you know my mind is always moving.  I have recently gotten a little, ok alot obsessed with Pinterest.  I read these men and womans blogs and think "I could do that".  My life is pretty much like any others.  I work, I play, I have raised 2 grown boys and am a stepmom to two others.  Both my husband and I are widowed and have been married for almost 12 years.  His kids, which without DNA testing I consider my kids.  We have been through our trials and tribulations like any other family.

I am a partner in a growing business.  Though sometimes my life may seem boring to others, its my life and the way I want to live it.  There were times when my husband joined his Motorcycle Club that we were out drinking, partying and just running amuck quite often.  The friends and enemies we have met along the journey I wouldnt change for the world.  We are at a point in our life now where we want to slow down a bit socially.  We want to own our house in the next 5-10 years and live a comfortable life with our family and closest friends.  This really is just a test blog....I have so much more to say.
